Why Your Blog is Not Getting Traffic – Especially From Search Engines, Here is The Reason

Recently I started allowing guest bloggers in my tech blog with different type of revenue sharing and bonus payment 5$ per 3 articles. I got several inquires and few people submitted articles also. But,  to be honest, I didn’t find the reasonable reason to approve them or expect to get traffic from search engines. What I understand is, still some of the bloggers are not clear about the quality of articles or how to attract search engines and visitors. Here I’m sharing few tips to increase the search engine traffic for your next article or blog from my experience.

Let me make something clear, you are not alone in internet, there are plenty of bloggers, blogs and websites available. And most of the bloggers literally dying to get the latest news and publish them as first one in internet. If some new product or service is released in USA and when you woke up next day in south Asian countries such as India or Sri Lanka then you are late on that. The new product release and reviews almost would have covered the blog world by that time. This is the reality, Google gives importance to publishing date and time too. Normally people who published first get in to first page (most of the time).

Ok, lets go to our point, why your blog is not getting traffic especially from search engines.

1) You are already late.

2) So, how your article will reach the visitors?

This is the very important question everyone should ask before start writing an article. Because of you are late in specific topic, it doesn’t mean you can’t get traffic at all for your article. But, you have to guess and work smartly to drive the search engines traffic through some holes.

Specially when you target search engines, just think what keyword (or combination of words) every visitor will type in Google and reach your article. If you get and guess the keyword phase, then go and type the same in Google and see the results.

If the exact keyword is already covered by top blogs in well earlier time, lets say before 6 months or one year, then it might be difficult to beat them and get in to first page. Because,

a) You are late for specific keyword

b) Your competitors are well established with higher PR, indexed links and incoming links.

So, in this case better you leave the keyword and article idea instead of wasting time and not getting any traffic, or if you are still wanting to publish the same article, then find out the different keyword phase which can drive traffic to this article.

Long Articles Work Better

When you have long articles more than 500 words,  you have more possibilities to get more search engine traffic. Because it may get extra traffic by more word combinations. In my experience I get extra traffic to specific long articles via some keywords which I never planned to target. But, these additional useful words bring more traffic.

Most of the new bloggers struggle to write an article around or more than 500 words. They are limiting their self and articles within less words or sticking with only specific keywords. Write anything widely and cover everything from top to bottom. It will satisfy your visitors and search engines also.

In a nutshell,

Before start writing an article, find out and decide the keyword (or a sentence or the question) that an internet user will be typing in Google to reach your new article. If you find its difficult to target and get in to Google’s first search result page, better leave the idea and look for new one.

If you write the same thigh which is already covered on internet with your less words writing style, then I’m afraid to say you can lead the search result pages with the keyword you want to target.

My advice is, just consider these points, think seriously and understand the reality and difficulties. If you see some top articles in top blogs, you could realize the time and hard work they have invested in drafting that successful article or blog, also that will very long, unique and informative.

I’m hoping these points will help or give some ideas to find out the correct keyword and write articles according to it.
